A few months back, Twitter announced that they were introducing native video for up to 30 SECONDS for their mobile app users. When I heard this news, at first my reaction was very….interesting. Take a look:

Yes at first I thought, “Wait a minute. Twitter owns Vine right? So why incorporate your own native video?” Then I stopped caring once I realized the power that 30 SECONDS gives you! I immediately knew it was going be a great tool to engage with others on Twitter! So why should you use Twitter video you ask? Because…
People Love Video
If there’s one thing that I could say is really taking off in the world of social media, it would be video. People LOVE video. Preferably short, digestible videos which are exactly what places like Vine (six seconds), Instagram (15 seconds), and now most importantly Twitter video are known for. One great use I have found of Twitter video is simply to interact with your audience. I like to use it to say thanks to my followers when they favorite or retweet my tweets. Here’s an example of an easy way to use Twitter video to thank someone for a retweet or favorite:
Notice the response from my friend Janell? She had never had someone thank her on video before. So, to see my big face saying thanks right on her phone/computer screen really made an impact!
Here’s another example:

See where I’m going with this? #CareBeforeShare that’s right. I can’t speak for Janell or James, but I hope that my little, simple act of doing something different and out of the way shows them that I REALLY appreciate their interaction.
Video is a GREAT Way to Share Your Story
Twitter video provides a unique way to share who you are and tell your brand’s story VERY effectively. We’ve seen many brands such as Lowe’s and Dunkin’ Donuts do this on Instagram and Vine. However, with the power of 30 SECONDS, so much more could be shared and conveyed to your audience. It allows you an avenue to humanize your business and really stand out from the crowd. Who doesn’t want that?
